I don't see why we can't keep the good things AND have the great things but then I am greedy!
I do relate to the second one, or did until we moved here at least. Often it was just me and the barstaff in the pub! -

I would find it hard to lose the 'good things' in life, but perhaps that's why mine is at a standstill at the mo! x

I agree with the first one up to a certain point I guess....... but only as long as I don't have to get rid of any of the good things until there's something better to replace them

Can't comment on the second one
but the first is definitely true. Very generally speaking things MUST die / be lost / come to an end for new things being able to arrive / start. Otherwise there can't be any regeneration, and we couldn't find better things in our lives.
When one door closes, another one opens up, or something like that
